As a Platform DevOps Cloud Engineer, you will be required to build, manage, and secure a container platform that meets your clients needs and takes advantage of cloud capabilities.

Program Mission…

This program will support our US Customs and Immigration Services Cyber Security Defense Services Contract that provides support to Security Engineering Branch of Information Security Division (ISD) of USCIS. We protect USCIS' IT infrastructure and resources, information systems, and the information that is used in these environments from cybersecurity threats.

Years of Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in an infrastructure, DevOps, or application development role
  • 3+ years of experience with container tools, including Docker, Kubernetes, or Rancher
  • 3+ years of experience with deploying Kubernetes within a platform or cloud offerings, including GCP, AWS, or Azure
  • 2+ years of experience with automation tools like SaltStack, Ansible, or Puppet

Education: Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical field is required.

Location: Remote. This position may be staffed at the Government's facility in Williston, VT or in the Washington, DC area, or other locations in the United States with approval by the Government.

Clearance: Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a Government Agency clearance. DHS EOD is a major plus.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • 5+ years of experience in an infrastructure, DevOps, or application development role
  • 3+ years of experience with container tools, including Docker, Kubernetes, or Rancher
  • 3+ years of experience with deploying Kubernetes within a platform or cloud offerings, including GCP, AWS, or Azure
  • 2+ years of experience with automation tools like SaltStack, Ansible, or Puppet
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code environments, including activities around the automated server or network configurations, large-scale software deployments, or monitoring and testing, such as continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD)
  • Hands on experience with software development practices like DevOps , DevSecOPs and CI/CD tool chains (i.e. Jenkins, Spinnaker, Azure DevOps, GitHub).
  • Knowledge of container networking, monitoring, and storage solutions
  • Working knowledge of one or more of the following programming languages: Java, Node.js, JSON, PHP, Perl, Python
  • Experience with design, deployment, and management of Cloud environments, including AWS or Azure
  • Experience in cloud application development (e.g. PaaS, Serverless, API Management)
  • Experience with using or migrating continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) pipeline solutions or tools, including Jenkins, Git, or TeamCit
  • Knowledge of container security technologies like Twistlock, Falco, or Clair desired
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure solutions (i.e. Windows and Linux IaaS, SAP, BCDR, Security, Management, Storage, Networking, OSS, containers and Infra as a code technologies)
  • Knowledge of native Azure Platform security tools and service tools.
  • Knowledge of vulnerability scanning, encryption, cloud monitoring, firewalls, and Credential, and Access Management (ICAM).
  • Clearance: Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a Government Agency clearance. DHS EOD is a major plus
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Experience supporting DHS Agencies.
  • Ability to demonstrate and explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Able to clearly communicate with both customers and teammates and provide recommendations for improvements to existing software applications
  • Experience working in an agile development environment

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
