Job Title: Medical Coder

Specialty: Medical Coding / Health Information Management

Place of Work: Remote (supporting Zuni Comprehensive Community Health Center Zuni, NM)

Duration: 1 year contract

Shift Schedule: Flexible remote schedule based on productivity requirements Credentialing / Onboarding Time: Approximately 4 6 weeks License:
Not required Certifications:
Must hold one of the following certifications from AHIMA or AAPC :

• CPC (Certified Professional Coder)
• CCS (Certified Coding Specialist)
• CCS-P
• RHIT / RHIA (or equivalent coding certification)

Experience Needed:
Typically 3+ years of medical coding experience Coding Systems Experience:

• ICD-10-CM
• CPT
• HCPCS

Special Skills Needed:

• Experience with EHR / RPMS systems preferred
• Knowledge of CMS coding regulations and Correct Coding Initiative (CCI)
• Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance coding rules

Responsibilities

• Perform remote medical coding services for patient visits at Zuni Comprehensive Community Health Center.
• Review clinical documentation and assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes .
• Ensure coding compliance with CMS regulations and federal coding standards .
• Identify documentation discrepancies and submit queries to providers for clarification .
• Abstract relevant clinical information and identify secondary diagnoses and comorbidities .
• Maintain coding accuracy and comply with facility quality assurance and audit requirements .
• Complete coding within four (4) calendar days of visit date unless documentation delays occur.
• Meet productivity and accuracy standards established by the facility.

Productivity

• Productivity tracked using DXV coding productivity reports .
• Coders must maintain 95% coding accuracy .

Important Notes

• Work is fully remote but supports an IHS facility in New Mexico .
• Contractor must provide computer equipment, secure internet, and VPN access capability .
• Coding must be completed within the IHS RPMS/EHR system .
