Job Title: Business Analyst (Investment Banking)

Location: Jersey City, NJ (Hybrid 3 days onsite / 2 days remote)

Interview Process: Microsoft Teams; final round may be in-person (candidate must agree at time of submittal)

Visa Requirements: No H1-B or OPT only GC, USC, GC-EAD, H4-EAD, L2-EAD

Experience Level: 10+ years minimum

Duration: 12+ months (likely extension)

About the Role

Client is seeking an experienced Business Analyst to serve as a critical liaison between business stakeholders and technology teams. You will analyze complex business processes, elicit and document requirements, and drive solutions that support strategic objectives and operational improvements within the Investment Banking domain.

This is a hybrid role based in Jersey City, NJ , requiring strong domain knowledge of investment banking operations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Requirements Gathering: Lead stakeholder interviews, workshops, and document analysis to capture business needs, pain points, and opportunities.

• Process Analysis & Improvement: Map current state processes (using Visio, Lucidchart, etc.), identify inefficiencies, and propose automated or streamlined workflows.

• Functional Specifications: Translate business requirements into clear, actionable user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications for development teams.

• SDLC & Agile Support: Partner with product owners, developers, and QA teams throughout the software development lifecycle from backlog refinement to UAT and deployment.

• Stakeholder Communication: Facilitate ongoing collaboration between business users (trading, operations, risk, finance) and IT teams, ensuring alignment and transparency.

• Reporting & Dashboards: Prepare status reports, metrics dashboards (Tableau, Power BI, or Excel), and decision-support documentation for management.

• Testing & Training: Support testing efforts (functional, regression, UAT) and assist in creating training materials and end-user documentation.

Required Skills & Experience

Category Must-Have

Domain

Investment Banking experience (trading, settlements, risk, trade finance, or capital markets) non-negotiable

BA Experience

10+ years as a Business Analyst, with proven success in large-scale, complex projects

Process Modeling

Strong proficiency in process mapping, workflow analysis, and tools like Visio or Lucidchart

Agile & SDLC

Deep understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies, including user story writing, backlog grooming, and sprint planning

Tools

Hands-on experience with JIRA , Confluence , Excel (advanced), and Tableau (or similar visualization tools)

Soft Skills

Excellent communication, facilitation, problem-solving, and stakeholder management ability to bridge business and technical language

Certification

CBAP, PMI-PBA, or equivalent is a plus, but not required

Nice to Have (Preferred)

• Experience with trade life cycle, derivatives, fixed income, or corporate banking products.

• Familiarity with SQL for data analysis and validation.

• Previous experience working with offshore/nearshore development teams .

• Knowledge of regulatory reporting (Dodd-Frank, Basel, etc.).
