As a Special Education Paraprofessional , you’ll work closely with ESS instructors, special education teachers, and general education staff to provide academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support for students. This is a rewarding opportunity to impact student success while working in a collaborative team environment. Wonder Zone would be working with Preschool students, and Kid Zone would be working with Elementary students.

Your Role Will Include:

  • Serving as a contributing member of the ESS and special education team.
  • Supporting academic programs designed by ESS instructors, special and general education teachers, including: Leading small groups, providing one-to-one follow-up and re-teaching/review, and supporting students in staying on-task.
  • Providing supports to enhance student success and independence through the implementation of Individual Education Program (IEP) adaptations and accommodations (e.g., taking notes in class, reading materials aloud, utilizing technology, implementing organizational tools).
  • Providing feedback to ESS instructors and special education teachers about class activities, assignments, student participation, and behavior.

Qualifications:

  • Associate of Arts (AA) degree. (Preferred).
  • Training or experience working with children in a group tutorial and supervisory setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective working relationships with students and staff.
  • Basic academic competencies to provide tutorial assistance as needed.

Salary and Benefits:

  • $18.56 – $22.86 per hour, depending on experience.
  • Personal time, sick time and paid holidays. 
  • Benefits are available for employees working 30 hours per week.

Location & Shift Times:

  • Christina Huddleston Elementary - Split Shift 7:00 am - 9:30 am and 3:00 pm - 5:30 pm
  • JFK Split Shift - 7:00 am - 10:00 am and 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm
  • Lake Marion - 7:00 am - 10:00 am
