Bankruptcy Attorney Debtor Practice (Portable Book)

Location:

White Plains, NY or Manhattan, NY

Hybrid with remote Fridays.

As we continue to grow our Bankruptcy & Restructuring group, we are seeking a senior-level attorney to expand our debtor-side capabilities.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Bankruptcy Attorney with a focus on debtor representation and a portable book of business to join our team. This position offers the opportunity to take a leadership role in an established practice with the infrastructure and support to grow further.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent businesses and individuals in Chapter 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcy matters

  • Manage litigation strategy, filings, motions, discovery, court appearances, and settlement negotiations

  • Advise clients on restructuring, workouts, and creditor negotiations

  • Collaborate with colleagues in litigation, real estate, and corporate law on related matters

  • Originate and manage client relationships; develop new business opportunities

  • Mentor and supervise junior attorneys or legal staff as appropriate

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

  • Admitted to practice law in the State of New York

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in bankruptcy law, with a strong preference for debtor-side focus

  • Demonstrated ability to handle matters independently from intake through resolution

  • Strong courtroom and client-facing skills

  • Portable book of business strongly preferred
