Bankruptcy Associate Attorney | AmLaw Firm | New York City | $275K-$350K

A prestigious global law firm with over a century of legal excellence is seeking an experienced Bankruptcy Associate Attorney to join its sophisticated Bankruptcy Practice Group in Midtown Manhattan. This is an exceptional opportunity for a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year associate with AmLaw 200 pedigree to handle high-stakes consumer and commercial bankruptcy matters in the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts for the Southern District of New York (SDNY) and Eastern District of New York (EDNY). Key Responsibilities

• Counsel clients on bankruptcy relief options including Chapter 7 liquidation, Chapter 11 reorganization, and Chapter 13 wage earner plans under the U.S. Bankruptcy Code
• Draft, review, and file comprehensive bankruptcy petitions, schedules, statements of financial affairs, motions, and pleadings for consumer and commercial bankruptcy cases
• Represent debtors and creditors at Section 341 creditors' meetings, confirmation hearings, adversary proceedings, and contested matters before the U.S. Bankruptcy Court
• Appear and advocate in the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York
• Conduct thorough analysis of financial statements, assets, liabilities, income streams, and creditor claims to develop effective bankruptcy strategies
• Negotiate and communicate with bankruptcy trustees, creditors' committees, creditors, and opposing counsel to resolve disputes and contested matters
• Ensure strict compliance with federal bankruptcy statutes, Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure, local bankruptcy rules, and New York state exemption laws
• Manage complex bankruptcy caseloads independently while consistently meeting court-imposed deadlines and filing requirements
• Maintain comprehensive case files, detailed client communications, and accurate documentation throughout bankruptcy proceedings
• Deliver client-focused legal counsel and strategic guidance from initial consultation through case discharge or plan confirmation

Required Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited, nationally recognized top 50 law school
• Previous attorney experience at an AmLaw 200 law firm strongly preferred
• Active member in good standing of the New York State Bar (required)
• Admission to practice before the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York and/or Eastern District of New York (or immediate eligibility to obtain admission)
• 2-4 years of substantive bankruptcy law experience, handling consumer bankruptcy and/or commercial bankruptcy matters
• Comprehensive knowledge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, bankruptcy procedures, and New York exemption statutes
• Superior legal research, writing, advocacy, and negotiation skills with demonstrated success in bankruptcy litigation
• Proven ability to manage bankruptcy cases independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment
• Exceptional organizational skills with ability to handle multiple bankruptcy proceedings simultaneously
• Strong analytical skills to evaluate complex financial information and develop creative debt relief solutions
